Dr. Spellman is a board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologist specializing in neuroradiology. He earned his degree in medicine in 1994 from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia Health System in the Department of Radiology where he later completed a fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology.

Dr. Spellman is board certified with the American Board of Radiology. Before attending medical school, he received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Washington and Lee University.

Dr. Spellman and his wife have three boys, and they all enjoy cycling, running, hiking and swimming. In addition, he enjoys cooking and growing heirloom tomatoes and culinary herbs with his sons. Dr. Spellman is also actively involved in the Downs Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee and Best Buddies Tennessee.
